How to Play Rails

🎯 Objectives

You are building and managing your own railroad! Each level starts in year 1825 and continues up to present day.

Your goal: Build a network of tracks between stations and lead each train to the right one. The more trains you round up, the more money you make!

• 60 levels with increasing difficulty
• Different train types across eras
• Higher levels = more frequent trains

🏛️ Stations

Every level starts with just two stations (red and yellow). As time progresses, new stations appear (maximum 6 total).

• Match train color to station color
• Watch countdown badges for departures
• Blocking entrances delays departures
• Trains can depart even without tracks!

🛤️ Building Tracks

Connect all stations by drawing tracks between them. The grid limits placement, so plan carefully!

• Use as few tracks as possible
• Leave room for future stations
• Create alternative routes
• Triple switches are not allowed

🚂 Controlling Trains

Guide trains using railroad switches. Be careful with signals and dead-ends!

• Red signals reverse trains
• Wrong stations cause reversal
• Reversed trains move slower
• Can't toggle occupied switches

💰 Earning Money

Make money by delivering trains to their matching stations. But watch your expenses!

You earn money when:

• A train reaches its correct station

You lose money when:

• A year passes in-game
• You build new tracks
• Trees/objects are cleared
• Trains crash
• Train departures are delayed
